After taking a creative break (and spoiling my dogs Bucky and Zeus), I’m thrilled to relaunch Liz Baker Photo—your go-to pet and family photographer in Northern Virginia. From candid snuggles to golden-hour glows, I specialize in capturing authentic, joyful portraits of families and pets in the Fairfax, Arlington, and greater NoVA area.


Whether it's a solo shoot for your dog or a full-family session with the whole pack, I'm here to make photo day easy, relaxed, and full of personality.


I specialize in pet portraits and family photography in Northern Virginia—and yes, your dog is absolutely part of the family. My goal? To capture the love, laughter, and personality that make your people (and pups) so special.


 

Why the break?

Life got really full. Between career changes, chasing new opportunities, and just trying to keep up with the pace of everyday life, I realized I was pouring from an empty cup. My creativity needed room to breathe and honestly, so did I.


Photography had always been my outlet, my joy, and my way of connecting with people (and their dogs!) in the most meaningful way. But when it started to feel like one more thing on a long to-do list, I knew it was time to pause.


During that break, I stayed behind the lens in smaller ways—snapping casual photos of my dogs, capturing quiet family moments, and letting inspiration find me again. And slowly, it did. I found myself missing the joyful chaos of photo sessions—the snorts and zoomies of excited pups, the belly laughs of families playing in the grass, the way golden-hour light makes everything feel like magic.


Most of all, I missed the connection. The way a single photo can freeze a feeling. The way a dog's silly expression can say everything. The way a child’s hug around their pup’s neck becomes a memory you’ll never want to forget.


That’s what drew me back. Not just the images, but the stories behind them.

Bucky is my sweet, loyal rescue mutt who wiggles instead of wags (he doesn’t have a tail). Zeus is his slightly dramatic, extremely photogenic older brother with a big tail and a more sophisticated energy... They’re the inspiration behind my work and the unofficial CEOs of this business.
